Buenos Aires, January 19 (NA) -- Bastián Jerez, the 8-year-old boy who remains in serious condition after an accident in the coastal city of Pinamar, has undergone a fifth operation, and his progress is being monitored. This was reported by the Argentine News Agency (NA) following the medical bulletin issued by the 'Victorio Tetamanti' Provincial Maternal and Children's Hospital in Mar del Plata. In this regard, it was detailed that the intervention was 'successful' and it was explained that 'the patient was evaluated by the neurosurgery team, which performed new studies and detected an increase in intraventricular bleeding'. In light of this, it was decided to take him back to surgery. A drainage of ventricular bleeding was performed and an external ventricular shunt valve was placed to allow for pressure control and to favor his recovery. The medical center also noted that 'the patient will continue to be hospitalized in the intensive care unit'.
